Beat the Winter Blues in Clare

Clare Main Street and the Clare Chamber of Commerce are sponsoring a brand new event in Clare this month.

The “Beat the Winter Blues in Clare” will be held February 12 and 12 with 35 local businesses participating.

Clare Main Street, the Chamber and area businesses and organizations have teamed up to paint this green town blue for two days!  Said Main Street Manager Lori Schuh, “We plan to help you “Beat the Winter Blues”. The event will feature Blue decorations in the trees and in area businesses, Blue Plate specials in local restaurants, and Blue Tag specials in area shops. Also, enjoy Beat the Blues live music and special activities in various locations throughout the community. Look for the big blue icons in the windows of the participating businesses.”

Retailers are offering a wide variety of ways to save during the two day event with “Blue Tag Specials,” and local restaurants are offering “Blue Plate Specials” with special prices.

“Beat the Blues Music” will be featured at restaurants, with live entertainment, a kids coloring contest, face painting, cookie decorating, make and take crafts and many other events and kid’s games at retailers.

In addition, many locals businesses have contributed to several (three to four) “Beat the Blues Gift Baskets” which will be given away. Visit any of the participating businesses to enter the drawing.

Schuh said “We have had a wonderful, large turnout of business people to help plan this event, developed just two months ago. It’s been fun to put together and was planned to fill the gap between Clare’s Christmas Open House and the Irish Festival when people tend to get the “winter blues.” The dates were set in conjunction with President’s Day and Valentine’s Day, when people want to find something fun to do.”
