Clare JV takes 2 from Beal City

The Pioneer junior varsity softball team swept a doubleheader over the Aggies of Beal City on Wednesday night by scores of 10-4 and 10-0.  The victories improved their record to 8-2 on the year.
In the first game, the Pioneers struck early with 2 runs in the first inning on a 2 run inside the park home run by Ashley Petree.  The Aggies came back with 3 runs of their own in the 2nd inning to take the lead.  A Courtney English triple in the bottom of the 2nd inning scored Kayla Bicknell to tie the game and in the 3rd inning Petree blasted a long home run over the center field fence to give Clare a 4-3 lead.  The Pioneers went on to score 3 runs in both the 4th and 6th innings to put the game away.
In the second game the Pioneers started right from where they left off by scoring 3 runs in the 1st inning, one in the 3rd and 4th, and five in the 5th for a mercy 10-0 victory.  Again, the bats were hot as the girls knocked out 12 more hits.  Four girls had 2 hits in the game.  Benchley was 2 for 3 with both being doubles and scored 2 runs, English was 2 for 3 and scored one run, Packard was 2 for 3 with a double and scored 2 runs, and Petree was 2 for 3 with both being triples and scored 2 runs.
