The Clare County REVIEW has a rich history of providing the Clare County area with local news. Started in 1947, the weekly newspaper, which began publishing in Farwell, is now located in downtown Clare, and provides news and advertising to 10,000 homes in Clare, Farwell, Harrison, Lake and Lake George.
Mike Wilcox has owned the newspaper since 2009, when he purchased it from Patricia Maurer. Interesting enough, Wilcox owned the paper in the late 80’s and early 90’s, before he sold it to Patricia. Wilcox, who is editor and publisher, and his wife, Teresa, live in Harrison.
Maurer continues to write for The REVIEW, covering local government as well as many of the activities that take place in surrounding communities. The editorial staff also features Ben Murphy who writes sports, and Rosemary Horvath who writes features. Wilcox, Maurer and Ray Augenstein are featured columnists.
Sherry Landon, production manager is in charge of the graphics department. She is ably assisted by Amber Howe, Michelle Turner and Val Kurkerwicz. The four produce the graphically pleasing newspaper that you receive each week as well as maintaining this very active website and Facebook pages.
Trish Beemer is in charge of display advertising sales. If you seek more customers for your business it would be wise to give her a call. Former Clare Mayor and longtime advertising sales consultant for The REVIEW, Al Iacco, drops in each Thursday to proof the paper before it goes to press.
We are proud to proclaim THE REVIEW is “Mid-Michigan’s most widely circulated newspaper.” It is also one of the only free newspapers left in the state.
