On April 26, 2014, the 515 Gallery will be hosting its annual Jack Pine Conference student show. This year’s JPC will feature six of the area schools. These young artists are given a chance to compete for three scholarship awards and experience the thrill of having their artwork displayed in an actual professional gallery. This opening reception on April 26 will be held from 6-8 p.m. Awards will be given and light refreshments will be served.
By hosting this show, the 515 Gallery hopes to promote the arts and help students follow their artistic dreams. Though many schools have had to reduce their art programs during these difficult economic times, it is important that young people realize just how much the arts affect our everyday lives. Studies prove that the arts encourage students to stay in school and also help them improve in other areas of study. There are even many careers that involve art and creative skills. However, it can be difficult to make yourself known in the art industry. This competition is held by the 515 Gallery as an effort to encourage budding artists to follow their dreams.
The 515 Gallery is honored to announce that this year’s juror will be Kathleen Sullivan, a
Well known artist from Midland. She has worked in various media’s and because of her past work with students the Gallery believes she will be an excellent juror for this exhibit. The 515 Gallery encourages you to stop by April 26, from 6-8 p.m. and support your local area art students.
