BLESSING OF THE PETS
Unity Church of Clare will be having a “Blessing of the Pets” Service on Sunday July 20, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. The Church is located at 215 West Sixth Street in Clare.  Bring your animal family members and join us for this special event when we honor the Pets in our lives that bring us so much joy.  For more information call 989-821-8433

TASTE OF DOWNTOWN
Tickets are now on sale for Taste of Downtown scheduled for Thursday, August 7 beginning at 5:30 p.m. in Downtown Midland.

More than twenty participating restaurants, pubs, caterers and retailers welcome event participants with the food, beverages and atmosphere of Downtown Midland.

“It’s a great way to experience all that Downtown Midland has to offer plus it’s a great night on the town with friends and neighbors,” said Selina Tisdale, executive director for the Downtown Development Authority, which hosts the event.

“Only 350 tickets are available for this event and they’re going fast!  This is a downtown party you won’t want to miss,” Tisdale added.

Guests will enjoy street musicians as they travel from place to place and as Taste wraps up, guests will gather on the patio at the H Hotel to continue the party with a cash bar and dancing the night away to musical entertainment.

Tickets are $32 per person and can be purchased online at downtownmidland.com.

More than 10 hearty tastes of downtown cuisine including CherryBerry, Mercato di O&V, State Street, Pizza Sam’s, Heather ‘n Holly, Journey’s Coffee House, Amazing Deli, and more.

These tastes will be hosted in fun retail settings like Coyer Candle, Ways to Wellness, Northwood Gallery, Little Forks Outfitters, Imagine That, Meier Camera Shop, Michigan Brew Supply and more;

Three complimentary beverages from downtown pubs Diamond Jim’s, Espresso Milano and Whichcraft Taproom plus water stops at Inertia and Ieuter Insurance Group;

A patio party at the H with musical entertainment and a cash bar until 11 pm.

Ticketholders must be 21 to participate.  Event held rain or shine.  Proceeds benefit future events sponsored by the Downtown Development Authority.

OPEN HOUSE
The Lake George Boosters Club is hosting an OPEN HOUSE to show the Public and our Members the new renovations.  It is Saturday, July 19 from 1-3 at 89 S. Bringold north of Lake George.  There will be  refreshments available.

POPPY SALE
The American Legion Post 558 will be having a poppy sale July 11, 12 and 13, 2014. The sales people will be out in front of local stores.

CRAZY QUILTERS LECTURE AND LUNCHEON
The Clare County Crazy Quilters are hosting a lecture and luncheon with Ami Simms on August 11 at the Clare Church of the Nazarene, 10160 S. Grant Ave. in Clare.
Ami has been quilting since 1975, author of 9 books on quilting.

Her easy-going teaching style and incorrigible sense of humor have made her a sought-after instructor and lecturer on the national circuit for more than 25 years.
There will be vendors, door prizes and a quilt raffle. Doors open at 9am. Attendance is by reservation only which can be made by sending a check for $25.00 to: C.C.C.Q.  P.O. Box 51, Harrison, MI 48625.

ELDER CARE/MEDICAID SEMINAR
Living Hope Lutheran Church is having the second of a series of seminars. This seminar is on Wednesday July 16, 2014 at 6:00 pm.  Attorney JR McGraw will be giving information on Elder Care/ Medicaid and Long term care. He will answer all the questions you have wanted answers to.  Don’t miss it.

SWISS STEAK DINNER
The monthly Swiss Steak Dinner at the Farwell United Methodist Church will be held on Thursday, July 17, 4:30 – 6:00 p.m. The menu includes swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, cole slaw, rolls, dessert and beverage.  The public is welcome. Cost is $8 for adults, $4 for children.

CAR/BIKE SHOW
Fraternal Order of the Eagles #3761, 8460 W. Ludington Lake, MI will be holding a Car / Bike show on July 12 (Sat.)
from 10AM – 2PM for judging. $10.00 entry fee. Food and beverages available for purchase. Call 989-544-3761 for more information.

FARWELL FARMER’S MARKET SILENT AUCTION
Farwell’s Art, Craft & Farmers Market will be holding a Silent Auction on Saturday July 26th during the Lumberjack Festival bids will open at 9am and close at 2pm the money raised from the Auction will help pay for the activities that the market puts on for the community.
