SWISS STEAK DINNER
The monthly Swiss Steak Dinner will be held on Thurs., Aug. 21, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. at the Farwell United Methodist Church, 281 E. Ohio St., Farwell. Public is invited to enjoy swiss steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetable, cole slaw, rolls and dessert, and beverage.
FALL KICKOFF PROGRAM
The Clare Athletic Booster Club will host the 2014 Fall Kickoff Program on August 14, 2014 at Clare High School. The events scheduled are: 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Annual Community Pork Dinner 6:30 p.m. – 6:45 p.m. Parent Meeting with Dan Haggart, Athletic Director 6:45 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Breakout Sessions with fall sport coaches. Athletic Passes will be on sale for $200 for a family of 4 (additional $25 for each immediate family member). Athletic Participation Fees of $75 per high school student, and $25 per 7th and 8th grade student will also be collected. A sign-up sheet for volunteers to help the Sports Booster Club will be available as parent help is needed at all home events. Also needed are adults willing to help sell tickets at all home events.
LAKE GEORGE BOOSTERS SWISS STEAK DINNER
The Lake George Boosters Club, 89 S. Bringold Ave., Lake George is hosting a Swiss Steak Dinner on Saturday, August 16, 2014. We will begin serving at 4:00 PM. Take out is available. The proceeds will go to our College Scholarship Fund.
CROP WALK’S 30TH RALLY AND WALK PLANNING
The Clare County CROP Hunger Walk will hold a rally August 17, 4 p.m., at the Congregational United Church of Christ, 110 W. Fifth St., Clare. This will be the kickoff rally and planning meeting for the 30th Clare County CROP Hunger Walk. All recruiters/team leaders, committee members and interested persons are invited to attend to receive sponsor records and other information about the walk. Bob Barnhart, Church World Service/CROP Regional Director will be present to share what Church World Service is doing around the world to help people in need.
The CROP Walk to help hungry people will be held at St. Cecilia Catholic Church, 902 McEwan Street, Clare, on Sunday, September 28. Registration will be at 1:30 p.m. Walkers are encouraged to have their sponsor record(s) completed and totaled before the walk, as the walk will start promptly at 2 p.m. A light luncheon will be available and drawings and prizes will be given out after the walk. Other plans to make the 30th walk special will be announced later.
Churches, community organizations and businesses are invited again this year to form a team to participate in the walk. Teams for the walk can be made up of two or more people. Individuals can be part of a team by collecting as little as $5 in donations from themselves or others. If possible, teams should identify themselves at the walk with the team name on a shirt or cap.
This year there are four agencies benefiting from the twenty-five percent of the proceeds distributed locally. These agencies are the Clare County Food Pantry; the Clare County Baby Pantry; Love Inc. (includes three pantries) and the Community Nutrition Network food distribution. The remaining seventy-five percent will go to sites around the world chosen by Church World Service where the need is great.
