| Despite not winning a single event, the Clare Girls Track Team won the 2008 Clare Invitational Friday night. The Pioneers scored 104 points, besting Freeland by 2. Others at the meet were Petoskey (87.5), Alma (87), Hemlock (73.5), Traverse City St. Francis (62), Beal City (56), Charlevoix (54), Bullock Creek (45), Sacred Heart (33), St. Louis (26) and Coleman (26). | Clare wins twice against Farwell |

The Clare softball team won 10-0 and 14-10 against Farwell on April 29 in a doubleheader at Clare High School. Pioneer pitcher Jodie Prawdzik earned the win in both games as Clare improved to 4-0 in the Jack Pine Conference and 7-5 overall. Farwell dropped to 0-4 in conference play. Read More... |

The Harrison Girl’s Varsity Softball Team won 11-4 and 8-7 in a doubleheader against Grayling on April 14 at Harrison High School. The wins improved Harrison to 5-1 on the season. The Hornets won game two in dramatic fashion. After jumping out to a 6-0 lead, the Hornets allowed Grayling to score six runs in the fourth inning to tie the game. The Clare Boy’s Varsity Track Team finished in third place with 74 points at the St. Louis Relays on April 12. Alma took first place with 78 points in a tight finish between the top three teams in cold, rainy and windy conditions. Harrison finished in second place with 76 points. “The top three teams looked very strong,” said Clare coach Adam Burhans. “But we still had a few miscues that cost us the overall title.” Read More... |

The Coleman Varsity Girls Softball Team won both games, 6-0 and 17-0, against Clare on April 8 at Coleman High School. It was the first games of the season for both teams. The Comets opened the season ranked No. 3 in the Division 4 preseason rankings by the Michigan High School Softball Coaches Association. Coleman proved the ranking is warranted with its play.
