CLARE AREA CHAMBER TO HOST BUSINESS EXPO FEBRUARY 23

The 2012 Clare Area Chamber of Commerce Business Expo, themed “Rope in New Business,” is offering business owners the chance to exhibit their companies at this networking event. The expo will take place on February 23, 2012 from 1 – 7 p.m. at the Doherty Hotel and Conference Center, located at 604 N. McEwan St. in Clare. Donald D. Hanel

Donald D. Hanel, age 73, lifelong resident of Clare, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2011 at the MidMichigan Medical Center in Clare.  Donald was born the son of Edward and Jessie (Agle) Hanel on September 27, 1938 in Clare.  He was united in marriage to Mary Lou Gaudard on September 17, 1960 with her predeceasing him on September 19, 2003.  Donald had worked as a Welder and Pipefitter through Union Local 85.  He loved competing in Garden Tractor pulls as well as spending time outdoors Hunting and Fishing.  Donald was a Life Member of the Clare V.F.W. Wilson named “Outstanding Alumni”

Sheriff John Wilson of Clare County received the Jill Gallihugh Outstanding Alumni Award from the Delta College Police Academy during its recent commencement held December 16. It was the 89th Delta College Police Academy graduation. Twenty-four recruits graduated. Commander Jimmy Solomon of the Dearborn Police Department was the keynote speaker. Wilson had been interested in law enforcement from an early age, starting with Clare County as a cadet when he was in middle school, and working in several capacities until hired in 1989 as a Deputy. Lincoln Township Board, Residents and Sheriff Wilson Receive Recognition for Clare County Neighborhood Watch Program

At the Lincoln Township regular meeting held on the 12th of December, the Lincoln Township Board was presented a plaque for outstanding support and achievement towards their township Neighborhood Watch Program. Sheriff John S. Wilson and Clare County Neighborhood Watch Coordinator, Undersheriff Rick Miller presented the board with a plaque commending the Board for outstanding cooperation and support towards the Neighborhood Watch Program and the citizens of their Township by continuing to allow the use of their Township hall and also financial support. Clare City honors Officers of the Year

By Pat Maurer Review Correspondent Clare Officers of the Year were honored at the Clare City meeting Monday evening. Officer John Pedjac was named as the Clare Police Department full-time Officer of the Year; Officer Ken Chinavare was picked as the Reserve Officer of the Year; and James Leedy was selected as the Cadet Police Officer of the Year. Each was presented with a Key of Excellence and Key of Excellence Certificate by Clare Mayor Pat Humphrey at the meeting.
