I.C.A.R.E. brings grievances to BOC, no action taken
Amidst the presence of two television crews at the Clare County Building on Wednesday, the Independent Citizens for Ambulance & Rescue Efficiency (I.C.A.R.E.) presented a report packet to the County Commissioners during the Public Comment portion of the Board’s regular meeting. Surrey Township approves radio upgrade
Surrey Township approved a motion to upgrade the radio service and siren located at the transfer station to narrow band for an estimated cost of $1,650, from Pro-Com. The radio towers must all be converted to narrow band before the end of the year, Supervisor Russ Hamilton reported. Pro-Com’s estimate was the lowest of two received, he said. He said the township’s other siren at the fire station would cost approximately $2,490 to convert and still keep it so the fire department can set it off manually. Grant discusses new sample well, tests at old township dump
Grant Township board members agreed Tuesday evening to get estimates to test residential wells that might be affected by pollutants from the Grant Township Dump site, which has been closed since December 31, 1989. Supervisor Dan Dysinger said the direction of the flow of pollution from the old landfill is southwest and between five and ten residential wells in this direction should be tested for VOC (volatile organic compounds) and metals. Clare, Farwell teens arrested for burglary spree in 3 counties
A call to the Clare County Sheriff’s Department about two breaking and entering complaints led to the discovery of a rash of 18 similar incidents over the night of February 9 in Clare, Isabella and Gladwin Counties and to the arrest of two men within three days in connection with all of the break-ins.
