Treasurer’s office flooding a serious issue at Clare County Courthouse
There’s a leak at the Clare County Courthouse but it’s not a person trying to spread information. Instead it’s in the roof and it’s causing endless hassles for Clare County Treasurer Jenny Beemer-Fritzinger as was discussed during Wednesday’s Board of Commissioners meeting. The leak is in the roof in the area of Beemer-Fritzinger’s office. Farwell approves zoning for new business
After hearing concerns from area residents, the Farwell Village Council approved a request to rezone the east side of South Webber Street as “Light Industrial” at their regular meeting August 6. The property, which includes the former VFW building, was zoned Light Density Residential. It was recently sold to Ralph and Christine Whitman who plan to move their Coleman business, Whitman’s to the Village. United Rescue millage fails
United Rescue Ambulance Service won’t be seeing any extra operating funds in the next few years. The Primary ballot proposal had asked for .9 mills for five years to be used for operations of the service and would have raised $415,030 in 2012. Voters in Franklin, Frost, Greenwood, Hamilton, Hayes and Redding Township said no to the proposal, while voters in Harrison and Summerfield Townships narrowly approved the millage request. McClellan will face Wilson in November Of 23,426 registered voters in Clare County, 4,812 or 20.54 percent turned out Tuesday to vote in the Primary election. On the Republican side of the ballot, Mark McClellan was the voter’s choice Tuesday to face Democratic Incumbent John Wilson in his November bid for another four year term as Clare County Sheriff. Klaus, Hovey will face off in November for Probate Judge
Marcy Klaus and Tara Hovey will face off in November’s non-partisan election for the17th District Probate Judge’s seat in Clare and Gladwin Counties. The two attorneys bested former Clare County Prosecutor and Assistant Gladwin County Prosecutor Norm Gage in both Clare and Gladwin County Primary elections Tuesday.
