County Primary proposal results
Three pass, two fail Clare City voters approved a .75 mill renewal to support the Parks and Recreation program over the next ten years. The vote was 297 in favor and just 91 against the renewal overall. The millage will generate $64,368.47 in the first year to fund improvements to the City’s parks and facilities. Lincoln Township voters approved two millage proposals on the Primary ballot. The race is on in Township Primaries
GRANT The Grant Township Board seats are all on the ballot this year and since all are Republican, the seats will be filled in the Primary Election. Supervisor Dan Dysinger Jr. will face Michael Coon for his seat on the board. Dysinger has been a township resident for 25 years. Primary will decide contenders for new Probate Judge
The race is on for a new Clare Probate Court Judge in the 17th District (Clare and Gladwin Counties). Three contenders will be on the Primary Ballot next Tuesday. One will be eliminated and the remaining two will be on November’s ballot. Former Prosecutor, and Assistant Prosecutor in Gladwin County, Norm Gage will face Attorneys Tara Hovey and Marcy Klaus in the Primary Election. Two vie for Republican slot against Sheriff Nearly every public office in Clare County will be up for grabs in November and one of the choices on the November ballot will be decided next Tuesday in the August 7 Primary Election. Over $152,000 for libraries held in escrow by state
Clare County Treasurer Jenny Beemer-Fritzinger presented her report to the Clare County Board of Commissioners during their meeting Wednesday and showed that the area has some money coming to its libraries in the future. According to Beemer-Fritzinger money from penal fines collected in Clare County are held in escrow by the state for eventual release to be used by local libraries. During her presentation she passed out a sheet to members of the board and the media showing the totals of these penal fines.
