Payton suffered extreme trauma, pneumonia, blood poisoning said pathologist at pre-trial

By Cathy Taylor                                                                                                                                            Correspondent Preliminary examination proceedings began Wednesday morning in Missaukee County District Court for Brittini Grabon, 19, of McBain.  Grabon was arrested May 2, 2013 for circumstances surrounding the suspicious death of her 14-month-old son Payton Disbrow.  The honorable Charles Parsons presided over the examination. Payton Disbrow was taken to Cadillac Mercy Hospital’s emergency room in the morning hours of December 18, 2012 by Grabon and her boyfriend.  She told hospital personnel that her child needed medical attention.  Dr. Robert Kowalski, MD was the ER physician on call and, after examination of the infant, pronounced him dead upon [...]

Homemade sex video results in charges

By Pat Maurer Correspondent A Weidman man, Brandon Watters, 22, is facing charges of Possession of Child Sexually Abusive Materials and Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor. An investigation began last month when a parent contacted the Michigan State Police Mt. Pleasant Post saying one of his co-workers had contacted the child’s parent to say he was showing homemade sex videos at his place of business. Man extradited from California, charged for CSC on Harrison boy

Paul Ignacio Johnson was arrested in California and extradited to Michigan to face charges stemming from a sexual assault of a four year old boy in Harrison. The investigation began in July, 2012 when agents from the United States Department of Homeland Security notified detectives at the Michigan State Police Mt. Pleasant Post about the possibility Johnson was molesting a 4 year old boy in Harrison. During the investigation it was learned Johnson had fled the state of Michigan. Man kicks out squad car after arrest

By Pat Maurer Review Correspondent A Harrison man, Dustin Middleton, 23, is facing multiple charges after he allegedly assaulted a 17-year-old Harrison man April 18. Deputies responded to the Cranberry Lake Road complaint in Hayes Township around 8:20 p.m. and arrested Middleton. While he was being transported to Clare County Jail, Deputies said he kicked out the real window of the patrol unit and damaged the vehicle’s door frame. At the jail the suspect reportedly assaulted corrections officers, with one officer taken to MidMichigan Medical Center – Clare for treatment of minor injuries.
