By Pat Maurer Correspondent Of the five schools in the Clare-Gladwin Regional Education Service District, Gladwin Community Schools was rated highest with a rank of 108 and an Academic Champs Score of 104.32, while Farwell Area Schools ranked lowest at 455 with a 94.5 Academic Champs Score. Anna Foerster of Clare was named to the Dean’s List for the Fall 2013 semester at Ferris State. Anna is the daughter of Marcia McDonald and Chuck Foerster.
Michigan Technological University has released the Dean’s List for the 2013 fall semester. To be included, students must achieve grade point averages of 3.5 or higher. Those earning straight A averages of 4.0 are indicated by asterisks. Among the honorees are the following from the local area: Clare: Cameron Allen, Biomedical Engineering. By Ben Murphy Farwell senior Dylan Brown signed a letter of intent to play baseball for Muskegon Community College on Jan. 17. “I believe he will be very successful at the next level,” Farwell baseball head coach Erik Schunk said. “He has tremendous speed and a strong arm. I am excited for him.” Brown, who primarily plays shortstop for the Eagles, batted .400 last year and had a .920 fielding average. Muskegon was 34-15 overall last year and took second in the Michigan Community College Athletic Association with a 19-7 league record.
