Clare soccer shut-out in opener at Gladwin

By Ben Murphy It took a change in venue, but the Clare varsity girl’s soccer team finally got its season underway, falling to host Gladwin 2-0 on Friday, April 19. “We got a game in and we’re thrilled,” Clare head coach Joe Zavaglia said of the contest that was originally schedule to be played in Clare. “I’m happy with the girls, they did what they were supposed to do we just have to do it a little better.” Neither team scored early on in the Northern Michigan Soccer League contest, as temperatures stood near freezing and snowflakes battered the field [...]

Colville, Taylor lead Harrison to second

By Ben Murphy The Harrison track teams began a meet in Houghton Lake on Wednesday, April 17 and after getting suspended due to lightening, finished the meet on Monday, April 22. The Lady Hornets placed second in the three-way Jack Pine Conference meet, with Meridian winning a Houghton Lake coming in third. Brooke Colville showed her dominance in the hurdles, taking first in the 100 with a time of 18.35 and took first in the 300 hurdles with a 51.91. Clare baseball sweeps Farwell 10-8, 8-2

By Ben Murphy Clare took out host Farwell in its baseball season opener Monday night, topping the Eagles 10-0 (six innings) and 8-2 in a Jack Pine Conference doubleheader. “It was a great day to play a doubleheader,” Clare head coach Skeet Colosky said. “You could see that it was early in the season, we have room to improve, overall good start. Multi-cultural club hosts International Night

The Multi – cultural Club of Clare High School hosted the second annual International Night at the high school. The club members diligently worked to make this night a bigger success than last year’s. With the support of the exchange students and family, club members and family, and the community, they did just that. There were approximately 175 people in attendance.  Students made and sold tickets, planned and organized the entertainment, and even acted as hosts. Lipovsky tosses no-hitter as Harrison cruises to win
