Farwell runner-up in golf meet
The Mid-Michigan Golf Conference had its first league jamboree on Saturday in Gladwin, with Roscommon narrowly winning the event with an 18-hole team score of 336. Farwell was close behind in second at 338 and Pinconning took third with a 360. Gladwin placed fourth with a 386, Clare was fifth with a 394, with Sacred Heart, placing six, Houghton Lake was seventh and Standish Sterling was eighth. Clare soccer shut-out in opener at Gladwin

Colville, Taylor lead Harrison to second
By Ben Murphy The Harrison track teams began a meet in Houghton Lake on Wednesday, April 17 and after getting suspended due to lightening, finished the meet on Monday, April 22. The Lady Hornets placed second in the three-way Jack Pine Conference meet, with Meridian winning a Houghton Lake coming in third. Brooke Colville showed her dominance in the hurdles, taking first in the 100 with a time of 18.35 and took first in the 300 hurdles with a 51.91. Clare baseball sweeps Farwell 10-8, 8-2
By Ben Murphy Clare took out host Farwell in its baseball season opener Monday night, topping the Eagles 10-0 (six innings) and 8-2 in a Jack Pine Conference doubleheader. “It was a great day to play a doubleheader,” Clare head coach Skeet Colosky said. “You could see that it was early in the season, we have room to improve, overall good start. The Harrison softball team remained unbeaten on the young season Tuesday night, topping visiting Manton 9-1 in a non-league contest. “We left a lot of runners on base tonight, which is going to happen sometimes,” Harrison head coach Matt Cooper said. “We also made some base running mistakes which we need to address in practice.
