Court of Appeals denies Clare Police immunity in Scozzari death

By Pat Maurer Review Correspondent A lawsuit against Clare Police officers and the City of Clare is still active after the majority of a three-judge panel for the U.S. Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a District Court denial of immunity for Clare Police Chief Dwayne Miedzianowski and Officer Jeremy McGraw in connection with the 2007 shooting death of William Scozzari. The decision was filed January 4. Scozzari, 51, died September 18, 2007 at the Lone Pine Motel where he lived for about ten years. He was shot during an altercation with the Chief and an Officer. Update – 5 teens arrested for MDOP

By Pat Maurer Five Amish teens and one juvenile were arrested January 10 for Malicious Destruction of Property. Joseph D. Stutzman, 20, Uriah A. Ginerich, 18, Eli Troyer, 17, Daniel Miller, 17 and Elizabeth Miller, 19, all of Clare, were arraigned in 80th District Court. Bond was set at $10,000 personal recognizance for each. A 16-year old Beaverton boy will be petitioned in court for his involvement. Rockwood patrons object to police treatment

By Pat Maurer Review Correspondent Several patrons of the Rockwood Bar in Farwell were planning to make a formal complaint against a State Police Trooper for his actions in an early morning New Year’s Day arrest at the business. UPDATE – Meth Lab busted, 3 arrested, in Hayes Township

By Pat Maurer Review correspondent In a joint investigation, the Bay Area narcotics Enforcement Team [BAYANET], Clare County Sheriff’s Department and Michigan State Police raided a working methamphetamine lab in Harrison Tuesday. Two men and one woman were arrested Tuesday and arraigned in 80th District Court Wednesday, all from Harrison: Eric Donia Herron, 32; Shane Allen Haag, 31 and Stephanie Marie Chartrand, 24. When officers arrived with a warrant at the Herron residence on Bischoff Street in Hayes Township Tuesday, they found a working methamphetamine lab. Meth Lab busted, 3 arrested, in Hayes Township

On 01/10/2012 the Bay Area Narcotics Enforcement Team along with the Clare County Sheriff’s office and the Michigan State Police executed a search warrant at a residence on Bischoff St in Hayes Township. A 32 year old man, a 31 year old Harrison man and a 24 year old Harrison woman were arrested at the residence and lodged at the Clare County Jail in connection with operating a Meth Lab. Assisting on the scene was United Rescue Ambulance Service and the Harrison Fire Department.
