Fire destroys Krell’s Clare home

By Pat Maurer Review Correspondent A fire that firemen believe began on the second floor destroyed the rural Clare home of Marve and Karen Krell on South Clare Avenue Saturday night. Clare Fire Chief Jim Chapman reported that the Clare Fire Department received the call to 7037 South Clare Avenue, just south of Dover Road, at 8:04 p.m. March 2. Suspect arrested in 5-store robbery spree

By Pat Maurer Review Correspondent Mt. Pleasant Police are still seeking suspects connected with robberies at five Mt. Pleasant businesses last weekend. One man, Vincent Miguel Belmarez, was arrested Thursday for a robbery February 17 at the Subway restaurant at 203 Mission Street. He was arraigned Thursday and charged with armed robbery, felonious assault, and firearms charges. His bond was set at $950,000. That robbery was one of five reported over the weekend. Man with gun prompts lockdown

Explosion and fire lead Clare police to meth lab- Brent Mogg in critical condition

By Pat Maurer Review Correspondent A 32-year-old Clare man, Brent Mogg, critically injured in an explosion last Friday, may be facing charges for operating a methamphetamine lab in a Clare home if he recovers. The Clare Fire Department was called to the scene at 805 East Fifth Street around 11:10 p.m. Friday, February 15 and while fighting the fire, firefighters discovered chemicals in the home that are commonly used in meth manufacture. Off to Hollywood for MP Idol hopeful

Mt. Pleasant teen Shaubha Vedula has earned a slot in the Season 12 American Idol competition. The Sacred Heart High School senior won a “golden ticket” in preliminary auditions for the show with her rendition of Christina Aguilera’s “Something’s Got A Hold On Me,” which aired on the Fox TV show Wednesday evening. Judges Randy Jackson and Keith Urban both lauded Vedula’s performance.
