CMU kidnapper shot and killed by cops

By Pat Maurer   The man who abducted a woman in the parking lot of the Central Michigan University Student Activity Center Wednesday evening “is no longer at large” CMU Police reported Thursday morning. After a massive police search and a sighting near Gaylord, Eric Lee Ramsey, 30, of Mt. Pleasant was fatally wounded by a Crawford County Deputy after ramming two State Police vehicles and the deputy’s car in his attempts to escape. Camp sworn in to Congress

Gelios elected BOC chair, LaBoda is Vice chair

  By Cathy Taylor Review Correspondent Two new County Commissioners claimed their seats at the first scheduled Clare County Board of Commissioners meeting for 2013.   County Clerk Pamela Mayfield officially welcomed Dale Majewski and Rick LaBodato Board. She assured the two new members that everyone was looking forward to working with them and that the commission always has an open door policy. Gregory named new Clare Police Chief

  By Pat Maurer Clare City Clerk Diane Lyon confirmed at press time Thursday that Clare Police Sgt. Brian Gregory has been named Clare’s new Police Chief, replacing Dwayne Miedzianowski.   “Midge” is leaving to become the new Clare County Undersheriff, beginning there January 7. His official last day with the Clare Police is Sunday.   Lyon said Gregory was one of five current members of the Police Department who interviewed for the Chief’s postion.   Gregory has been a full-time officer with the department since January of 2009 and was a part-time officer since July 2007.   I am [...]

Fire destroys Farwell home

  By Pat Maurer Review Correspondent   A Farwell home was totally destroyed in a fire Sunday morning. Surrey Township firefighters were called to the home of Laura Canute on West Illinois Street (south of the bank) around 10:18 a.m. December 30 after the occupants discovered smoke coming from a bedroom wall.   Surrey Fire Chief Dave Williams they immediately called the fire department.
