A report that an annexation petition has been filed with the Michigan Boundary Commission prompted some controversy at the Clare City meeting Monday evening. City Manager Ken Hibl notified City Commissioners by email that annexation was being sought for “at least 75 percent of” 199.07 acres owned by the Clare Northern Group, LLC on the north side of the city. | Coleman City Council votes to sell revenue bonds for senior housing project |

After a two-month layoff due to a lack of quorum, the Coleman City Council resumed business Tuesday night. The Council took action on an ordinance that would allow financing of the proposed construction of 30 more housing units for senior citizens, in part, through the sale of revenue bonds. “This is an ordinance to set up a bond issue for the Pere Marquette Senior Estates,” Mayor Harvey G. Robinson explained, “This would prepare to put the bond issue in motion.” The ordinance states that the City would borrow no more than $950,000.00 of the projected $2.35 million cost of the project. Robinson and City Clerk Kathleen Lewis will be working out the final details of the agreement. Read More... |
