This week many readers will notice an addition to the CLARE COUNTY REVIEW. We have added the Jack Pine Tribune to our editorial mix, so that you will now receive a steady diet of high school sports news in your weekly CLARE COUNTY REVIEW.
As publisher, I have long acknowledged that one of the missing pieces to a total editorial product, is high school sports. We’ve hired interns, CMU students and others to write high school sports, but only on a limited basis. With the Jack Pine Tribune we can now offer readers comprehensive coverage of all schools in the Jack Pine Conference.
The Jack Pine Tribune is the brainchild of former Gladwin Record staffer, Charles O’Rourke. He teamed with Clint Kern and Loren Dassay to create The Tribune a few years back. Many of us became familiar with the trio who faithfully are in the grandstands of most high school games. Their publication, is unique because it reports most everything related to The Jack Pine Conference. I actually know of no other publication in the nation totally devoted to a high school athletic league.
Members of the Jack Pine Conference are Clare, Farwell, Harrison, Gladwin, Houghton Lake, Sanford-Meridian, Beaverton, and Roscommon. The Tribune also covers Coleman, which is in a different conference, but still part of our coverage area.
And they’ve made a success of it. Athletes and their parents, grandparents and friends look forward to reading the publication each and every week. Now readers of the CLARE COUNTY REVIEW can catch up on high school sports as well as all other news in your REVIEW.
Oh and did I mention- it comes to you FREE of CHARGE. That’s right. Now you get The CLARE COUNTY REVIEW news, and The Jack Pine Tribune sports- and it comes to you free. Tell me where you can get a better deal?
As always we welcome your comments and criticisms. If you think the new sports edition is a great compliment to The REVIEW please tell us. Likewise, if you’d rather have you’re REVIEW without the comprehensive sports section tell us that, too.
