Our 2018 Memorial Weekend came and went without any major issues. We had no fatal accidents, no major crime reported throughout the 3 day weekend. The

weather was probably the warmest it has been in many years. Our lakes and trails were full of people enjoying the first weekend of summer, FINALLY! We had a total of 584 incidents through Central Dispatch from Friday through Monday of the holiday weekend. I remember working holiday weekends in years past where we would have 3 or more fatalities in one weekend between motor vehicle crashes and ORV accidents. To date for 2018 we have investigated 630 crashes in Clare County. There were 355 no injury property damage accidents, 222 car deer crashes, 1 fatal accident, 48 injury accidents, 2 snowmobile accidents, and 2 ORV injury accidents.

June 16, 2018 will be the annual Lincoln Township Neighborhood Watch Expo. This is the 8th year we have been doing this event in Lake George. Employees from the Sheriff’s Office will be cooking and giving away hot dogs. The Lincoln Fire Department and Clare County Sheriff’s Office will have equipment on display for the children and public.

On July 14, 2018 the Greenwood Township Board and Neighborhood Watch will be hosting a picnic for township residents and their Neighborhood Watch group. This will be held behind the Greenwood Township Hall in the new picnic area. The Sheriff’s Office along with the Harrison Fire Department will be there on display for the public to see. Come on out and enjoy a day with your Greenwood neighbors.

We are doing well here at you Sheriff’s Office, Jail, and 911 Center. We continue to work as a team with the Board of Commissioners and our County Administrator Tracey Byard, to keep this entire operation running smoothly. The County will be doing a feasibility study on the jail in the near future and see if there are ways to make things better, or things that may need to be changed to better serve our citizens of Clare County. Thank you to the public for their continuous support.

Like always,
GOD Bless
