We are rounding the corner for all the area schools to be back in session. Please remember the rules when it comes to school bus safety. Motorist must come to a complete stop at least 20 feet from a school bus whenever a bus is stopped and employing the use of its two red flashing signals. The stop arm is usually extended during these times. The driver may proceed once the bus resumes motion. The first couple of days of school every year are usually the most hectic for parents and students. Please slow down and take a little extra time dropping off and picking up students.

On August 07, 2017 Walter Downing was bound over to Circuit Court on Open Murder charges. This stemmed from a stabbing incident that occurred on July 15, 2017 on East Stockwell Rd in Hamilton Township. This incident involved the working together of several different law enforcement agencies which included the Michigan State Police, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Clare City Police Department, and the Clare County Sheriff Office. I wish to thank all those who assisted us in this investigation.

The annual Harrison Street Fair is fast approaching. On Saturday August 26th at high noon, the Clare County Sheriff Office Employees will take on the team from TV 9&10 News in softball. The game will be held at the field on the south side of the Harrison City Park. Last year the game was cancelled due to weather (I think the weather man had something to do with it). Our overall record is far more wins against 9&10. So, if you are looking for something to do that day come on out and enjoy a great game of softball.

Our hearts go out to the family of Alvin Yoder who lost his life in an accident on his farm on August 5, 2017 in Sheridan Township. Alvin was just 19 years old. Please keep his friends and family in your thoughts and prayers.

Like Always,
GOD Bless
Sheriff John S. Wilson
