Central Dispatch logged 3,330 incidents for the entire county.  Your Clare County Deputy’s responded to 2,187 of them.  Thanksgiving is one of the most heavily travelled holidays of the year.  I’m very happy to report that we had no fatalities in Clare County during this entire month.  We did investigate 8 accidents with injury, but nothing serious.

During the Thanksgiving Holiday time through the end of November we have had 12 larceny vehicle complaints that we have investigated.  Most of the vehicles involved were unlocked, a few were locked.  In Hayes Township there were 4 with 3 of them on Lee Street and 1 on Helen.  There were 5 in the City of Harrison with 4 of them inside the Mostetler Trailer Park and 1 on Westlawn.  There were 2 in Surrey Township both being in the Oakridge Subdivision.  We had 1 that occurred in Redding Township.  If you have any information that will help lead to the apprehension of person or persons involved please call the Sheriff’s Office.

Our annual Christmas celebration dinner is fast approaching. A few years ago we changed the format for the dinner.  In years past it was just for the employee and his or her spouse, now we invite the children and make it a fun time for all.  We have employees sign up who are coming along with their children and the ages of each child.  We receive donations for door prizes for the adults and to buy a gift for each child that attends.  There are two very important employees that make this entire dinner/party work and I want to thank the two of them, Missy Schmidt and Marlana Terrian.  These two gather the names and ages of the kids coming then spend a day shopping and wrapping the individual gifts.  The two also decorate the location where we have our dinner.  The food is a dish to pass and yes the Sheriff does cook and bring something, whether they eat or not would be a different story.

Remember to take a little extra time in your travels as we near Christmas.  As we come to the end of 2017 let us remember to be thankful for all we have.  We live in the greatest country on this planet.  May God bless you and keep you safe in 2018.

God Bless
Sheriff John S. Wilson
