Roofing Solutions Stutzman column picBy Reuben Stutzman

Spring “O” Spring welcome back! As I sit here writing and looking out the window, I can’t help but reflect on the past winter and the struggles that were faced with it, as well as being thankful for coming out of winter’s grip healthy and strong!

Introduction: The purpose of this column is to address roofing problems with affordable solutions that the average homeowner/farmer can address without spending a fortune for lack of knowing how to go about fitting and repairing that blown off shingle, sagging gutter, over-grown icicle problems, the list could go on and on!

With over 14 year’s experience in the field of roofing, I’ve always had a desire to help people learn how to do it themselves as well as put them in touch with a person that could do it!

As always my suggestions are not the only way to solve a roofing issue, but hopefully it can be of help to those that don’t have an idea where to start!April is such a beautiful time of the year!

Take a moment to walk around the house, check the roof line and eaves to catch small repairs that may lead to expensive projects if left unchecked. Make a list of things such as: Fascia Trim, gutter, chimney flashing, vent pipes, porch slope change, ridge line, shingle roofs, are shingles flat, curled or missing, and for metal roofs is the metal laying nice and flat (screws down and nice and tight.) After you make your list you can also separate them into three categories, looks good, questionable or definitely needs repair.

Remember it’s only April, all of the problems that show up can be addressed throughout the summer! Questions mail to:
