We are off and running this week, the first few of 180 learning-filled days in our halls and classrooms.

Fall sports are underway and our student-athletes are once again intent on success in their respective efforts. Notably, Clare Public Schools and our students & community were commended by the Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) for good sportsmanship this past school year – with no negative officials’ reports of concern, ejections, or sportsmanship. This is a tremendous credit to our student-athletes, coaches, administrators, staff and the community!
Enrollment continues to surge here in Clare. It’s a credit to our entire community that so many want to be a part of our school system and learn what it means to be a Pioneer. Academically, our new leadership team is focused on improving instruction and achievement, making Clare Public Schools the world-class institution we can be while developing well-rounded young people who value relationships. A great work ethic and the ability to care for others will separate Pioneers from others in the global community, and those are traits we’re seeking to instill this year and beyond.

The school board continues to be a good steward of the community’s schools and finances. Through our most recent bond issue we have been able to update our bus fleet and district technology. Using those funds, we are also updating some wiring/lighting in the middle school auditorium, and anticipate adding to the primary school playground next fall. The successful bond issue positions Clare Public Schools well for the future in an era of teacher shortages and competition at the state level for funding.

What does the future hold? Change…it is the only constant. We are modernizing our approach to transportation, exploring on-line classes to broaden student’s horizons, responding to state mandates like the 3rd grade reading law – all while maintaining the approach that working together for the achievement of all students is what separates us, and continues to make Clare a great place to live and learn!
