On May 16,2012 Gladwin County resident Chris Breznau formally announced his candidacy for the 97(h Michigan House District seat at the Gladwin County Democratic Party meeting. Due to redistricting following the 2010 U.S. Census~ the 97th House District is now comprised of the counties of Arenac, Clare, Gladwin and a portion of Osceola County. Formerly, the District included northern Bay County.
Breznau is a Democrat and has a diversified background that will enhance his advocacy while representing 97m District constituents. He is a political science major and understands the financial challenge to obtain a post-secondary degree while working at the same time. He has interned in Lansing with the House of Representatives, which broadens his knowledge on running a constituent office and serving the public. He has substitute taught in K-12 public school districts and has worked with students with disabilities. Breznau is a triathlete and knows the rigorous training and dedication it takes to reach or surpass personal goals. He also has a supportive family whose members are in the healthcare, education, environmental science and business world, which has further strengthened his background and knowledge in these fields.
If elected, Breznau stated, “I share the same concerns of many of the hard working people I have met throughout the mid-Michigan region in the past few months: jobs that pay a living wage, affordable housing, and adequate public school funding so that our students receive a quality education – from pre-school through post-high school. Putting people first is my priority.”
