Clare girls dribble past Bobcats, 72-22

The Clare Lady Pioneers easily kept their perfect Jack Pine Conference record in tact on Thursday, Jan. 24, topping visiting Houghton Lake 72-22.

“Our pressure was effective,” Clare head coach Matt Rodenbos aid. “We are 10-1 overall and 8-0 in the conference. The focus is on playing our best ball in February and into March. Improvement is always the goal.”

Clare led 32-7 after the first quarter and cruised to a 52-16 lead at the half. The Lady Pioneers used a 16-1 third quarter edge to lead 68-17 lead after three, with Houghton Lake outscoring Clare 5-4 in the fourth.

Lindsay Winter scored 23 points in the game to bring her career total to 1023, Corinne Wezensky had 12 points and seven rebounds and Melissa Benchley had 10 points.

Clare played host to Beaverton on Thursday and travels to Harrison on Tuesday.
