The 515 Gallery of downtown Clare is preparing for an exciting October 24th opening reception of “When the Harvest Winds Blow” from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. This unique exhibit will showcase three accomplished artists, each working in the medium they love . . . Sylvia Coon- oil painting, Brett Sauve- clay sculpture, and Matt MacPherson- metal. The visual tie that binds these varied artists together is their distinctive styles, original concepts and use of linear movement.

Sylvia Coon has always loved nature yet felt something missing when painting landscapes or other images of the natural world exactly as she saw them. She’s found inspiration from mother earth and a connection between people and nature that provide her with a muse that takes on a surrealistic persona. Sylvia’s oil paintings are about humanity’s inner emotions and experiences blended into trees or struggling in water as the metaphors for emotional or spiritual skirmishes within all of us. Her aspiration is for anyone viewing her work to feel empowered to conquer whatever anguish or personal turmoil they may be facing.

Brett Sauve works in clay and creates original, distinctive faces. He considers his sculptures as emotional self-portraits. Brett feels it is much easier to take the emotions that he is feeling and portray them through someone else’s face rather than putting himself directly on the spot. This collection of Sauve’s work is about growth and transformation. He believes that every experience leaves a mark on your life. . . some of those marks just touch the surface while others dig deep.
Matt MacPherson creatively cuts, shapes and welds metal. His custom fabrication business, My Metal Medium, is located in Mesick, MI where he exhibits his custom Fire Rings, Bowls and Balls. MacPherson thrives on challenges in metal where his imagination can go wild. Matt has been crafting custom metals, especially in stainless steel, since 1997.

Don’t miss this chance to view these exciting works, visit with the artists and enjoy light refreshments at the 515 Gallery during the free opening reception on Saturday, October 24th from 6:00 -8:00 pm. This “Harvest Winds” exhibition will be showcased at the 515 Gallery through November 21th. The 515 Gallery is located next to Cops & Doughnuts in downtown Clare. Hours are Wednesday – Saturday 11-4 p.m during this exhibit.
