Beginning January 19, 2014 the Seventh Day Adventist in Clare is hosting a 4 week series of cooking classes on Sundays from 4-6 p.m. in the church auditorium located at 9875 Thomas Dr., Clare, MI. Taught by Dorothy and Norman Moll the Living Free Lifestyle Change Cooking Class will feature plant based menus, Nutrition and principles explained, Hand-on Meal Preparation, and making substitutions. Living Hope Lutheran Church is having there next free Clothing Give A Way on Tuesday February 11, 2014 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. We have lots of good clean clothing including children’s sizes 0 to 4 . We do accept all good clean clothing for all ages and sizes for this program. The church is located at 2855 Cadillac Drive, Farwell near the overpass of US 10 and M115.
LOW COST RABIES VACCINATION CLINIC
Clare County Animal Shelter is holding a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic at the shelter on Saturday, February 15 from 10:30 am until 1:00 pm. Cost of the vaccination is $13 and the service is being provided by Old 27 Veterinary Clinic. Both cats and dogs are welcome to this clinic, and we ask that all dogs be leashed and cats be in a crate or carrier of some sort.
Clare County dog licenses will also be available at this clinic, and for pricing details see the Clare County website at www.clareco.net or call the county treasurer’s office. Your 2013 licenses will expire on February 28 so if you haven’t already done so please do this for your pets and get them up-to-date!

The Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health and Sports has recognized (The Veterans Freedom Park- Annual Freedom Run/Walk in memory of SPC. Robert Friese) as a quality physical activity event. As a result, (The 3rd Annual Freedom 5K) will be included in the Pure Michigan FITness Series endorsement program.
(This will be an official timed 3 mile run or walk in honor of SPC. Robert Friese. This event will be held April 26, 2014 and starts at 10:00a.m. This date coincides with the date of Robert’s ultimate sacrifice to this great nation! TOUR OF HONOR
The Mid-Michigan Honor Flight, an organization that is focused on giving Veterans the opportunity to see the memorials that honor their service in Washington D.C., free of charge, is now accepting applications for their first “Tour of Honor.” This trip for the newly established Mid-Michigan Hub, affiliated with the Honor Flight Network (www.honorflight.org), is tentatively scheduled for June 2014 from Grand Rapids Airport.
Benchley Brothers Buick in Clare, MI will donate $20 per vehicle sold in the month of January to get these deserving heroes of the “Greatest Generation” flying.
“It costs approximately $500 to send a Veteran to D.C. and we are losing 1,000 per day,” stated Tricia Donegan, Hub Director. “Funding is a critical part of the project.”
Jim Benchley of Benchley Brothers Buick agreed to participate because “I wanted to help say ‘thank you’ to these WWII Veterans. They paid for our Freedom with their service.”
