CCAC Seeks Display

Do you have an old ironing board you are not using and would like to get rid of it? The Clare County Arts Council is looking for old ironing boards (metal or wooden). CCAC will be decorating and displaying these throughout the County this summer. They will be sold during CCAC Art of Garden tour in July. Please drop off your old ironing board to the Clare Chamber between 10-4 or at O’Neil’s in Harrison during business hours. Deadline is April 1. Kindergarten Round-Up Readiness

The Clare Primary School is in the process of establishing a list of children who will be entering Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year.
All parents who have children who will be 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2019 are asked to contact the school at 386-3438.
Parent informational meetings will be April 3rd at 5:30 p.m. at the Clare Primary School.

Senior Socials

Our Lady of Hope Parish in Clare is hosting a social event for all seniors in the community.
This event will be held the first and third Friday of every month at the parish hall at OLOH. The events will be form 10:00 am until 1:00 pm.
Treats and beverages will be provided by the church. We are suggesting everyone bring a bag lunch for themselves and enjoy what you like with old and new friends.
Rides will be made available for those needing one. Call the parish office at 989-386-9862 and we’ll do our best to make it work. Please note, if the schools are closed due to inclement weather we will also be closed.

Clare Community Chess Club

The Clare County Chess Club meets every Saturday from 10:00am – 1:30 pm. at the Pere Marquette District Library. Beginner to expert – all skill levels welcome. Please bring your own chess set. Free and open to the public.

Irish Fest Animal Shelter Adoption

Volunteers will have homeless pets from the Clare County Animal Shelter at Family Farm and Home in Clare on Saturday, March 16 from noon to 4 pm. We have shifted our time a few hours because this is the same day as the Irish Festival in downtown Clare. Same day adoptions available. Check our photo albums on our Facebook page for our Happy Tails and Currently Available Pets. Clare County Animals Shelter is open Monday-Friday 10 am to 4 pm, and our telephone number is 989-539-3221.

Winter Euchre Night

The Lake George Boosters Club Welcomes The Public to our Winter Euchre Night.  We play Tuesday’s starting Jan. 8, 2019 through April 30.  The doors open at 6pm and cards start at 7pm.  We are located at 89 S. Bringold Ave. north of Lake George. You are welcome to bring a snack to share at the break it you wish.  Everyone welcome!

Parenting Series

Join MSU Extension and the Great Start Collaborative on a six-week parent education series focusing on parents talk.  Starting Wednesday, March 6th from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at the Clare Gladwin RESD and will run to April 17th. These parenting classes explore the language we use with our children with the goal of increasing the number of workable responses parents use with their children. Topics covered include eliminating unwanted behaviors, setting limits, teaching about consequences, giving effective feedback, promoting independence, and developing character.

Swiss Steak Dinner

The monthly Swiss Steak dinner will be held at the Farwell United Methodist Church (at the corner of Ohio and Superior St.) on Thursday, March 21, 2019 from 4:30 – 6:00 p.m.  The menu includes: Swiss Steak, mashed potatoes and gravy, hot vegetable, coleslaw, rolls, dessert and beverage.  The donation is $9 for adults, $5 for children.  Take-outs are available.

Animal Shelter Food Drive

Harrison Tops Club #1767, in cooperation with the Harrison Moose Lodge, will be working to help the Clare County Animal Sheter during the month of March. We need your help too! Items such as dog & cat food, pine litter, collars, leashes, Dawn Dish Soap and spray cleaners with bleach are all needed. Please no treats or toys. Items and/or monetary donations can be dropped off at the Harrison Moose Lodge. If you have any questions please call or text Carol at 989-423-6330.

Bob Taylor Benefit Dinner

Please join us at the Clare Moose Lodge on Saturday, March 23rd from 4-7pm for a Spaghetti Dinner benefit for Bob Taylor Jr. as he fights Acute Myeloid Leukemia. All proceeds go to Bob. Adults are $8 Children $5 with children under 5 being free. There will also be a silent auction and 50/50 raffle.

Saturday Night Euchre
