CHILI DINNER AND WHITE ELEPHANT SALE
The New Hope Fellowship Missionary Church is having the following events on April 12 from 5-7 p.m.: A chili and white chili dinner and a “White Elephant” sale. Both are on a “donation” basis. The church is located east of Clare at 9115 Pere Marquette Rd. All proceeds from dinner and sale go to the revival fund.
FREE FOOD DISTRIBUTION
On Saturday, April 5th at McGuire Chevrolet, 712 W. US 10 (5th Street) in Clare. From 11:00 am until the food is distributed! Registration starts at 9 am. All who want food will receive it until we run out. Limited to one food package per household. Please bring a photo ID. Bring your own reusable bags, boxes, or baskets if you have them! There may be a long wait. If you need to sit, please bring a chair. Free healthy eating tips and recipes will also be given away! HARRISON SCHOOLS TO SCHEDULE REQUIRED MAKE-UP SCHOOL DAYS FOR STUDENTS
Harrison Community Schools has been forced to cancel school due to weather ten days this winter. Currently the State of Michigan allows schools to miss up to six of our required number of school days before having to schedule make-up days. One of the four required make-up days for Harrison already has been completed on March 10th.
To comply with the State of Michigan requirements for days of pupil instruction, the following days will be scheduled as regular school days to make up the 3 required days: Monday, April 21st, 2014, Friday, May 23rd, 2014, Friday, June 6th, 2014 will be a ½ day for students (Thursday, June 5th will become a full day for staff and students)

AGRICULTURAL LABOR & SAFETY SERVICES (ALSS) SEMINAR
Clare and Isabella County Farm Bureaus are hosting an Agricultural Labor & Safety Services (ALSS) Seminar focusing on Farm Safety and First Responders. This seminar will be held, free of charge, on April 3, 2014 at Jay’s Sporting Goods located at 8800 S. Clare Ave. in Clare from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. with lunch provided. There will also be door prizes available.
Speaker will be Craig Anderson, ALSS manager with Michigan Farm Bureau. Mr. Anderson will be touching on emergency responders and farms, agricultural safety and health management system implementation, and farm hazard assessments. Pesticide applicator recertification core credits for commercial and private applicators are also available. Also on site will be Consumers Energy, Clare Fire Chief James Chapman and members of Surrey Township Fire Department.

Several youth events will take place at the Pere Marquette District Library in Clare for the month of April.
PERE MARQUETTE LIBRARY NEWS
Every Friday except April 4th they have Busy Bee story time which is open to all ages from 10:30-11:30. The children have free play with toys for half an hour then we will play music instruments and read a few short stories.
They will be hosting a Mine Craft server free to kids on April 8th. 6th grade and up time slot is from 3:30-4:30 and 1st-5th grade time is 4:30-5:30 they do need to register at the library before since there are only 10 spots available.
On April 15th they will show a free movie and have popcorn after school at 3:30.
On April 19th they will be having an inside egg hunt at the library starting at 1:30. There will be crafts , egg hunt and entry to win prizes. They will also have the Easter bunny there as well. Families need to register at the front circulation desk before the event.
April 22nd they will have the T.A.G group (teen advisory group) after Easter glow in the dark egg hunt after school at 3:30.
THE CLARE BAND BOOSTERS
The Clare Band Boosters will hold their 6th Annual «Notes of New Orleans» Fundraiser on Friday, April 11th from 7 – 9 p.m. at Clare High School. Participants will enjoy a cajun-themed meal while listening to the Clare High School Jazz Band perform. Other activities include a silent auction and drawings. Cost is $20 per person.
Money raised at this annual event will be used to support the Clare Bands 6th – 12th grade program. Tickets are on sale at the Clare High School office and available for purchase online at clarebands.org.
The Harrison Sportsman’s Club is offering at no cost the latest in DNR Sponsored Hunter Safety Training. Participants register at one of six registration sites, pickup a training booklet and instruction sheet that will show how to complete the Home Study or online training course. On Saturday April 26th at the Harrison Sportsman’s Club participants are provided field day activities and complete a required written test for Hunter Safety Certification. The Sportsman’s Club is providing a free luncheon to participants.
