Grant to help homeless

September 9, 2011

A grant received from the Kathy Rynearson Homelessness Prevention Services Endowment Fund at the Clare County Community Foundation will help us in connecting those in danger of becoming homeless with appropriate resources,” said executive director Scott Redman.

A committed partner, the Clare County Community Foundation strengthens our community by providing leadership, fostering collaboration on local needs and issues, and encouraging a legacy of giving through grants, scholarships and events.  Visit

2-1-1 is a free telephone number that connects callers with resources, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. People looking for assistance can find it difficult to navigate the complicated web of health and human service programs and often don’t know where to begin.

“2-1-1 helps communities bring together people in need with the resources that can help. It improves our quality of life by providing up-to-date information about available services, while operating in a cost effective, efficient manner that makes use of the latest technologies,” stated Redman.

Callers will be connected with a trained, caring professional who will assess their situation, identify their needs and refer them to local resources. Individuals who would like to offer help or have items to donate can also connect by calling 2-1-1.
