New pizza restaurant opens in Farwell

It’s a new name and a new business but the same great pizza that you might remember.

“Get Some Pizza and Sweet Treats” is opening at noon on Super Bowl Sunday in the building that housed the Corner Store Pizza on Farwell’s Main Street.

You might remember the owner too. It’s Connie Bradley, who established and owned the original Corner Store Pizza businesses in Clare and Farwell in the late 1980s and early 1990s. She is back again and will be using the same great sauce and pizza dough people have been asking for.

“I was the Subway Store manager when the Corner Store closed for the second time,” she said. People kept asking me, ‘Why don’t you do that again?’, so I decided to ‘do it again’.”

Connie, who lives in Clare with husband Ron and daughter Jordyn, is originally from Farwell. She was raised in Farwell and graduated from Farwell High School – “but I am not saying the year,” she said with a smile.

Ron works at Soaring Eagle Casino and will be helping out at the new business along with Jordyn and Connie’s parents Dave and Virginia Furman. “It’s a family business,” Connie said.

“Get Some Pizza and Sweet Treats” will feature both dinner and dessert. Their menu lists six “specialty pizzas” along with built your own in three sizes: 9-inch or small; 12-inch or medium; and 16-inch or large. “We have the only 16″ large in the area,” Connie said.

If subs are your favorite they have 13 of those listed too and you can order extra items as well. They have three types of salads and sides including personal size pizzas, pizza flips, bread stix, and garlic bread, soup and even an “Ella” Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich. “Ella is my granddaughter,” Connie added.

Daily lunch specials are planned Monday through Friday.

The “Sweet Treats” is for another specialty of Connie’s, homemade cupcakes.

This week they have been working hard to get ready for Sunday’s opening and all week they have been providing “lunch” for different area businesses, to give them “a taste of what’s coming.”

They are on Facebook too and each day customers will have a chance to win a free large pizza with one topping by being one of the first five people to comment on their daily post.

Starting Monday they will be open Monday through Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. They will only have Sunday hours once each year – on Superbowl Sunday!

The address is 111 East Main Street in Farwell and the phone number is 989-588-8030.
