The Clare County Arts Council proudly presents at their monthly gathering; Kim Kleinhardt, owner of 515 Gallery in downtown Clare. The gathering will be held at the gallery on Tuesday, August 9th at 6:30 pm.

Kim will guide us through Art Alley, one of her numerous projects and programs in Clare, sharing her vision for the future. Kim has included the public in the developing of Art Alley which began with the collection of hundreds of pieces of ceramic plates and glass, all used to form a mosaic on the back outside wall behind the 515 Gallery.

Kim includes the community in these art works. Over 800 people took selfie pictures so that Al Wildey, artist and professor at CMU could create a collage of the selfies.

This has resulted in an incredible portrait of a woman which now resides in Art Alley, a ‘must’ see. He will join us and will share this unusual process. Also on the walls; a mural designed by artist Julie Wells. Julie collaborated with artist Lesley Smoltz and Kim Kleinhardt for the final design, then invited the community, all ages, to help paint the mural. Julie will join us and share how the project came to be.

Last but not least, Kim’s latest project for Art Alley will be the Humpty Dumpty Wall. Justin LaDoux, junk art sculptor produced this marvelous Humpty Dumpty out of scrap metal. The bricks for the wall will be old license plates. Old license plates are needed. Donate any old plates for this fun project. The 515 Gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11:00 am-4pm. For more information, contact the gallery: 989-386-4175.
