		<description><![CDATA[In March, Hillside Elementary began its first season of Girls On The Run.  Working closely with the Girls On The Run Council of Central Michigan, they were able to establish a local program which helps girls in grades 3-5 focus on self-confidence, team work, goal setting, and physical fitness. The team grew quickly from a handful of girls to a full team of 18. Throughout the six week season, the girls participated in activities which helped them reach their end goal of running in a real 5k race. 		<description><![CDATA[By Ben Murphy Host Farwell won both games of a Jack Pine Conference baseball doubleheader on Thursday, May 16, topping the Hornets 8-3 and 12-6. Farwell scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning, and after Harrison plated two runs n the top of the third, the Eagles scored three in the bottom of the fourth and one in the fifth to lead 8-2. The Hornets scored their last run of the game in the top of the seventh inning. 		<description><![CDATA[By Ben Murphy The Jack Pine Conference track championships were held at Clare’s Brookwood Stadium on Tuesday, with the Clare boys winning their 10th straight league title, claiming a co-championship with Farwell. The Clare girls finished second, behind Gladwin. The Clare boys won the meet with 184 points, but Farwell finished in second and combined with the regular season dual record, the Eagles and Pioneers are co-champions. Harrison finished fifth with 82 points. “It was a great way to end the season from one of the youngest and banged-up teams I’ve ever coached,” Clare boys’ head coach Adam Burhans said. The Mustangs walked away JPC champs behind 2-0 and 3-2 victories. Hunter Ruby suffered the loss for the Pioneers, pitching six innings, giving up two runs on three hits. 		<description><![CDATA[By Pat Maurer Correspondent Sixty percent of the 50 people, who, on April 13th, attended the Arlington National Cemetery military funeral of Clare’s Darlene Schunk’s brother Colonel Homer Lear and interment there with his wife Mary Jane Lear, were from Clare. Besides Clare, family members attended the ceremony from all across the nation including Seattle, Washington and North Carolina. Twenty-six family members and four family friends took a charter bus from Clare to attend the event honoring Col.
