In my last article, I wrote briefly about giving my life to Christ and entering into a personal relationship with Christ. I wrote about my life as a Catholic prior to that and that I was a committed, loyal follower of Jesus and the Catholic Church. I also wrote about how, after I asked for a personal relationship with Jesus that the Bible, the Church, prayer, and the sacraments came alive for me.

I was asked the question, “Are you ready?” I replied in the affirmative and we prayed together and for a personal relationship with Jesus. I can’t imagine anyone not wanting to have a personal relationship with Jesus. So, I am asking you. “Are you ready?” If you are then you can pray for it right now. If you are hungry for a relationship with Jesus, which I suspect many of us are we can pray:

“Father, forgive me for all the wrong I’ve done. Help me to turn away from anything that prevents me from following you. I want your son Jesus to be the center of my life. Come and be the Lord and Savior of my life, fill me with your Holy Spirit so that I might live as your child in a new spirit of joy and peace. Thank you Father for hearing my prayer, through Jesus Christ. Amen”.

Like any relationship, it must be nurtured. Read the scriptures every day. They are God’s love letters to you. Hang out with people who believe and have a personal relationship with Jesus. Make use of the sacraments, especially the Eucharist and confession. Spend time each day in prayer, using the prayers you’ve memorized, but especially talking to God in your own words. Thank the Lord for all the wonders of this world when you notice them. Most of all, recommit yourself to God each day. Give your life and worries to God each day. Join a group of believers.

“May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let his face shine upon you and give you His peace.”
