It’s a new year, 2019. It’s time for reflection on the past year or years and making resolutions about how things will be different this year. Many of us will resolve

to eat healthier, lose weight, exercise more, visit friends and family a little more often and be nicer.

Some of us will plan to get organized, neater, an do more housekeeping and chores. Maybe you want to save a little more money or get a promotion. We all seem to want to be healthier.

This year I think I will do less of some things and more of other things. I’m planning to do less at work and spend more time with family. I plan to spend less time worrying and more time planning. I’m hoping to spend less time moralizing and more time praying. I’m planning to spend less time criticizing and more time accepting. I hope to spend less time talking and more time listening. I plan to spend less time “doing” and more time ”being”. Maybe I’ll spend less time watching TV and more time reading.

In government, I’m praying that there will be less blaming and more compromising so that something can get done. I’m hoping that more people will turn to Jesus and his church instead of staying away. I’m hoping that more people will understand that the church is full of sinners who struggle to be better people. I’m praying that our churches will be full.

Whatever happens in the new year of 2019, I pray that we all might have a peaceful, prosperous year, full of good health and joy as we live this Christian life together.

“May the Lord bless and keep you. May he let his face shine upon you and give you his peace.”
