How Moolenaar is doing for the little people

March 9, 2018

Dear Editor:

I read Congressman Moolenaar’s bid for reelection.  How well is he performing for we little people?

Environment.  The League of Conservation Voters gives him a 4% lifetime score.   I don’t know about you, but the planet that we live on, is pretty important to me.  Proper environmental stewardship is a strong conservative value, however, Representative Moolenaar votes for business interests nearly every time instead.

A website called fivethirtyeight keeps track of how often a Representative votes with or against President Trump’s position.  According to fivethirtyeight, Representative Moolenaar voted Trump’s position 98.5% of the time.  Some random examples:

Yes on Public Law 115-22 repealing an FCC rule that prevented internet providers from sharing data on customers’ online activities. (Less privacy for us.)

Yes on Public Law 115-8 which repealed a rule created to add to the NICS (used for firearm background checks) those individuals receiving social security, whose social security is paid to a 3d party payee, because the individual mentally incapable managing their own funds.  (Guns in the hands of people who are mentally incapable of managing their meagre social security income.)

Yes on Public Law 115-eliminating a consumer protection rule protecting consumers from companies using mandatory arbitration rules.  (Less access to the a judge, if you are taken advantage of, by a financial company.)
Yes on “Trump Care,” the American Health Care Act of 2017, which virtually every healthcare provider, hospital, and healthcare professional opposed.

If you are a big business interest that uses natural resources, a bank, a defense contractor, or a gun manufacturer – Representative Moolenaar is your man.  If you or your loved ones rely on (or expect to), Medicare for your healthcare, if Medicaid is paying for your grandparent’s nursing home care, if you have any immigrant friends who want to become Americans, you will do better with a different candidate.

Thank you,
Jaynie Hoerauf
