Proposal 1 means stronger, safer communities and more jobs

August 1, 2014

Dear Editor,

Michigan needs stronger, safer communities and more jobs, which is why
I’m voting yes on Aug. 5 on Proposal 1 to reform the way local
governments are reimbursed for providing important community services.

Best of all, no tax increase is involved. The proposal creates stable
funding through a Local Community Stabilization share, so local governments can afford important services – including fire, police, schools, roads and ambulances – that local residents deserve.

Proposal 1 also eliminates the Personal Property Tax on small  businesses, so they have more money to create jobs, which this state  desperately needs.
