Reader says, ‘Don’t print auto accident pictures’

May 2, 2019

Dear Editor,

Why do you print pictures of automobile accidents, in which people have died? What parent or family member wishes to see that?

On November 29, 1996 my teenage sons and two adults died in a car accident at 115 and Lake Station. The three families involved will never get over it. We live with it every day.

The Review wrote an article about it, just an article – no pictures. Thank you for that.

I have never seen the accident photos. I am very thankful for that. I know they were bruised, broken, bloody from their head wounds. All that was included in the accident report and was more than enough for one’s imagination.

Please, no pictures of vehicle accidents. Think of the families involved – it hurts! Please don’t let us see what the accident caused to their bodies.
Please show their faces, not the accident, we don’t need to see that picture in our minds.

Remembering our loved ones,
Joannie Shurtz
