Response to Dysinger letter about library

Dear Editor,

I am writing in response to the letter from Ms. Dysinger regarding Pere Marquette Library.

I am a voracious reader, so I visit the library very frequently. Never have I seen the library personnel treat patrons in the way described in Ms. Dysinger’s letter. Perhaps she misunderstood, or was confused by something. I’m wondering if she spoke with Sheila, the library director about her concerns. That would be the first step rather than threatening people’s jobs, or going to the library board to complain. It also seems very inappropriate to cast aspersions on all the library staff after a perceived rude encounter with one staff member.

These types of incidents are best dealt with directly speaking to library personnel first. If not resolved there, then perhaps the library board should become involved.

I hate to see the reputation of the library and its staff tarnished. My experiences there have been overwhelmingly positive. The staff is always friendly, helpful and efficient.

Sincerely,
Nancy Grover
