Dear Editor:

The tentative increase for Social Security recipients beginning 2013, is 1.49% pending the release of the September CPI-W, set to be released on October 16th.

Based on the months of July and August 2012, once the last month of the 3rd quarter is released, this increase will effect all recipients of Social Security and SSDI.

The average benefit for all retired workers which is currently at $1,229 and for a married couple at $1,984 will increase $18 and $30 per month respectively.
