Vegetarian diets and poisonous snakes

July 13, 2017

This is in response to two letters in the 6-30-17 edition.

To Payton Nicholson’s letter:
Payton, you’ll never convince me and most other thinking persons that a vegetarian diet is healthier than a normal diet. Human beings have been omnivores for hundreds (100,00) of thousands of years.
A well balanced diet is necessary for a healthy life. You can eat all the veggie burgers you like, but as I told Carmine from Mt. Pleasant, give me my steaks, pork chops, and chicken to go along with my asparagus, broccoli, peas and salads.

To Bennie’s letter:
Bennie, there are two poisonous snakes found in Michigan. The Massasagua or Pigmy Rattlesnake found mostly in the Clinton and Huron watersheds in Southeast Michigan, and the rare, but found in the U.P., the Timber Rattlesnake, very elusive.
