Writer strongly supports bond proposal

February 28, 2019

To the Editor:

I am writing to express my strong support for the Farwell Area School’s upcoming bond proposal and to ask the community members of our district to support this referendum by voting “Yes” on May 7, 2019. As a Farwell alumnus and proud parent of three thriving FAS students, I have seen firsthand the amazing work that our students, teachers and faculty perform on a daily basis. Their continual hard work and dedication is shown in the many successes that Farwell has experienced in our academic rankings, on stage, at band concerts and on the athletic field. Even more impressive, is that these successes have been achieved despite our school’s aging infrastructure and outdated systems.

Looking over the proposed referendum, there is nothing included that does not have an immediate impact on the safety and well-being of our students. The proposal’s infrastructure improvements and upgrades are essential to providing a secure learning environment. Additionally, by passing this proposal, our school’s general fund will be protected from having to absorb the continual, yet unpredictable high costs associated with equipment failures and breakdowns. It will allow those general funds dollars to be prioritized for learning and ensure our students receive a high-quality education that prepares them well for success later in life.

Our community is blessed to have a large group of parents, teachers, school faculty, business leaders and volunteers that have spent countless time and money helping our school and students achieve amazing heights over the course of our rich history. I can’t wait to see what our teachers and students are able to achieve with the upgrades and improvements that this proposal would provide. Please vote “Yes” on May 7, 2019!
