A 29 year-old Rosebush man was arraigned Monday on multiple sexual assault charges relating to the alleged rape of a 23 year-old Mecosta woman October 6.

Christopher Delano is in the Isabella County Jail on a $1 million bond.

According to the Michigan State Police, the Criminal Sexual Conduct (CSC) assault was originally reported by the victim to the Mecosta County Sheriff’s Department, but the investigation was turned over to the Mt. Pleasant State Police after officers determined that the assault happened in Deerfield Township of Isabella County on or around October 6.

Delano was identified after a three day investigation and he was arrested without incident at his Rosebush home.

With a search warrant, officers also collected evidence at Delano’s residence.

Delano was arraigned in Isabella County Trial Court under Judge William Rush Monday. He was charged with first degree CSC, a felony with a maximum life sentence; unlawful imprisonment, a 15-year maximum felony; attempted first degree CSC assault with intent to commit sexual penetration, a ten year felony; and with felonious assault, a four-year felony. The MSP release said a weapon was used in the assault.

Delano remains lodged at the Isabella County Jail.
