Grant Township candidates

July 14, 2012

Tom Kunse is seeking election as a Grant Township Trustee.  He id running as a Republican.  He has been married for 14 years and has two children who attend Clare Public Schools.  He has lived in the Clare community for 40 years and graduated from Clare High School, Michigan Tech and CMU.

He is greatly concerned that the current Township board is not responsive to the needs of our community.  He has been self employed for 18 years, involved in all aspects of financial planning, budgeting, and customer service.  These are the exact skills that are needed in local government.  We need to always remember that the government is here to serve the people – the people are not here to serve the government, said Kunse.

“I am a staunch supporter of private property rights and believe in stopping the expansion of government intrusion into our everyday lives.”

“The township needs to operate within its budget to stop increasing the tax burden on citizens.  The current board has repeatedly raised our taxes and governmental fees.  I vow that I will not support any new taxes or fees without putting the matter to a vote for the citizens of Grant Township to decide,” added Kunse.
