US-127 was closed last Friday afternoon between M-20 and M-46 due multiple crashes that involved at least 30 vehicles.  It occurred on US-127 northbound, north of Blanchard Road in Coe Township.

The accident was due to a combination of blowing show and icy roads, State Police from the Mt. Pleasant Post reported. They said that one of the vehicles was a fuel tanker that reportedly struck several other vehicles.

Both directions of the expressway were closed between early afternoon February 21 and 5:30 p.m. that day while emergency crews unloaded the fuel tanker’s cargo into another tanker.

No fuel was spilled and only minor injuries were reported, police said.

Deputies from the Isabella County Sheriff’s Department assisted State Police in investigating the accident and cleaning up the scene.
