This past Saturday, July 13th, Clare County 4-H members, local youth, leaders and parents were busy up at the Clare County Fairground preparing for the arrival of the many animals that will be on display. Cages needed to be cleaned, stalls put up and sawdust laid. The 4-H Food Stand needed to be stocked as well as the 4-H Milk Barn, which will provide cool tasty treats for visitors to enjoy.

The majority of the work is a part of a positive youth development program where youth learn by doing. From cleaning the barns, to showing an animal all week long youth will be “doing” plenty to make your fair experience one you will enjoy.

2019 events will begin Sunday at 5:00 p.m. with the Dog Show. For a complete schedule check out the Clare County fair ad in last weeks issue. On display will be rabbits, cavy, goats, poultry, sheep, lambs, cows, swine and horses. If you see an animal you like you can come to the 4-H auctions and place a bid.

The Large Animal auction will be on Saturday July 27th at 10:00 a.m. and the Small Animal Auction will follow on Saturday about 3:00 p.m. Come on out and see the animals and take time to also enter the home arts building where you will see many 4-H projects. Kids enter projects such as baked goods, sewing, photography writing, woodworking, canning and more.
