Courtney Dale Bauer

Courtney Dale Bauer, age 76, of Farwell, passed away at his home on Sunday, December 30, 2018 after a sudden Heart Attack.

He was born the son of Courtney K. and Maudie (Phelps) Bauer on June 14, 1942, in Grant Twp., near Clare.  He 1-4-19 OBIT Bauermarried the former Cheryl Loesel on Aug. 3, 1996, and she survives him.  Courtney had served with the US Army after High School and entered Trade School after discharge from the Armed Services.

He had a 37 year career as an Instrument Repairman with General Motors, Flint. He retired in Dec. 1999.  Courtney Loved Life!  He was a member of the Clare VFW, the Clare-Farwell American Legion Post, The Clare Eagles Club, and the Moose Lodge.

He had also had a 37 year career as a flight instructor.  Over his career he instructed 148 students to pilot licensure.  He had flown as an aerobatic pilot in air shows all over the US, and had logged over 10,000 hours flight time.

Courtney enjoyed working, whether on his ranch, or mowing on his Kubota, or being around horses, but he was always happy with the company of friends.  Some of his biggest joys could be found in his grandchildren.

Courtney is survived by his wife, Cheryl, two daughters, Anna Bauer and Dana Bauer, both of St. Clair, Mi, step-sons, Craig (Alena) Hutchinson of Mt. Juliet, Tn., and Eric (Kim) Hutchinson of Downers Grove, Ill., a sister, Anna (Jim) Leposky of Bellaire, brothers, Donald (Marilyn) Bauer of Farwell , Bruce (Nancy) Bauer of Clare, and his nine Grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, Jan. 4, at 11:00 AM at the Clare Chapel of Stephenson-Wyman Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Fall officiating.  Friends may visit with his family at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 PM.
Memorials may be made to The American Heart Association or for Pancreatic Cancer Research through the Rogel Cancer Center Pancreatic Cancer Program Fund.
