May 25, 2018

On Thursday, May 10, Clare County Road Commission shared a “Roads, Soil, & Science” presentation at Clare Primary School, with Jason Koch’s & Dave Gould’s 4th grade classes. Students were taught about road materials and maintenance, as well as the different types of gravel used.

5-18-18 Roads Soild and Science PresentationThe students were bright, enthusiastic, and engaged, and enjoyed learning the science behind road maintenance. They participated in a hand-on soil & gravel analysis. In addition, they learned about chip seal stone, limestone, washed sand, road salt, and asphalt. They also received a live demonstration of the operation of a gravel v-bottom and a road grader. It was a great experience for the students, teachers, and road commission staff. Mr. Koch is already looking forward to doing it again next year.

Road Commission presenters included:
Deepak Gupta, Engineer-Manager
Allan Leonard, Engineering Technician
